GA4 email reports: how to schedule them, and what they can't do

GA4's built-in scheduled emails work, if you're an admin. Here are the six steps, the limits you'll hit, and a daily GA4 email that needs only Viewer access.

Can GA4 send scheduled email reports?

Yes. A GA4 Administrator can schedule up to 50 standard or custom reports to be emailed daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly, as a PDF or CSV, to up to 50 people who have access to the property. A schedule stays active for 1 to 12 months, then expires until an admin renews it. Realtime can't be scheduled.

01 — Steps

How to schedule an email report in GA4

  1. Open the report.

In Reports, open the standard or custom report you want to send. Realtime can't be scheduled.

  2. Set it up the way you want it read.

Pick the date range and apply any filters or comparisons. The email keeps them.

  3. Open Schedule email.

  4. Add recipients.

Up to 50 addresses, chosen from people who already have access to the property.

  5. Choose when and how.

A start date, the frequency (daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly), how long it stays active (1 to 12 months), PDF or CSV, and the language.

  6. Save.

Manage it later in Admin › Property settings › Property › Scheduled emails.

02 — Limits

What GA4's scheduled emails can't do

  • Admins only.

Only the Administrator role can schedule emails. Editors, Analysts and Viewers don't see the option.

  • A file, not your numbers.

Each send arrives as a PDF or CSV file. To read the numbers, you open the file.

  • Expires after 12 months at most.

Then sending stops until an admin renews it.

  • Recipients need GA4 access.

You can only send to people who already have access to the property.

  • Frozen at setup.

The email keeps the date range, filters and comparisons you set when scheduling, and nothing more.

  • You can't pick the time.

The form asks for a date, a frequency and how long it stays active. There's no delivery time.

The long way, and the short one.

03 — Troubleshooting

When GA4's scheduled email doesn't show up

  • Schedule email is missing.

    Only Administrators see it.

Fix: Ask an admin to schedule it, or to give you the Administrator role.

  • My scheduled email stopped.

The schedule reached its end date and shows Expired, or you were removed from the property.

Fix: An admin can renew it in Admin › Scheduled emails.

  • My monthly report is missing days.

GA4 data can land late, so a report sent on the 1st may miss the last 3 days of the month.

Fix: Google suggests scheduling it for the 4th.

06 — FAQ

GA4 questions, answered straight.

Why don't I see "Schedule email" in GA4?

Only GA4 Administrators can schedule emailed reports. Ask an admin to schedule it for you or to change your role. Morning Pulse only needs the Viewer role: it asks Google for the analytics.readonly scope and emails you a daily summary without admin rights.

Why did my GA4 scheduled email stop?

Each schedule stays active for 1 to 12 months (12 by default), then its status turns to Expired and sending stops. Recipients removed from the property are dropped too. An admin can renew an expired schedule in Admin › Scheduled emails.

Can I send a GA4 report to someone without GA4 access?

Not with GA4's scheduled email: recipients must have access to the property. On Morning Pulse Pro you can add unlimited recipients at any address; each one confirms by email once. Free and Starter send to your own address.

Why is my monthly GA4 email missing days?

GA4 data can land late, so a report sent on the 1st may miss the last 3 days of the month. Google suggests scheduling it for the 4th.

Can I choose what time GA4's email arrives?

No. GA4's Schedule email form has a date, a frequency and an active period, but no delivery time. Morning Pulse arrives at 7:00 in your time zone.

Is there a daily GA4 email with trends?

Morning Pulse emails your latest GA4 day, usually yesterday, at 7:00 in your time zone. Each daily KPI is compared with the previous day, last week and last month, right in the email. Free covers 3 KPIs with no card.
