01 — Build vs run

Plausible already emails you weekly. This one comes daily, next to Stripe.

For a daily number, you'd script the Stats API. Here is what that script has to get right.

Unique visitors Your scriptAdd up a week of daily visitors and someone who came back five days counts as five people. Morning PulseWeekly and monthly Visitors is the average day. It is never summed.
Quiet days Your scriptThe Stats API leaves days with no visits out of its results, so a quiet day goes missing instead of showing 0. Morning PulseA day with no visits counts as 0, so trends compare real days.
Time zone Your scriptA 7:00 UTC run can read a day that hasn't ended for your site. Morning PulseOnly days that have ended in your site's time zone, as set in Plausible.
Rate averages Your scriptAveraging daily bounce rates weighs a 20-visit day like a 2,000-visit one. Morning PulseBounce rate, views per visit and visit duration are weighted by visits.
Numbers Your scriptAn LLM summarizing the JSON can round, swap or invent a percentage. Morning PulseArithmetic in code. No model writes a number.

02 — What's inside

Six numbers. Enough to know if your site had a normal day.

Daily totals for the Plausible site you pick. Quick setup adds Visitors, Pageviews and Bounce Rate with 90 days of history. Aggregation is how days add up when you pick a weekly or monthly KPI instead of a daily one.

Free covers 3 KPIs, so quick setup stops at visitors, pageviews and bounce rate. Visit duration too: Try Starter for 14 days.

How days are counted

  • The same person visiting on Monday and Tuesday is one visitor. Adding daily visitors counts them twice, so weekly and monthly Visitors show the average day. That is not Plausible's weekly unique visitors, which counts each person once across the week. Expect the two to differ.
  • Days follow your site's time zone, the one set in Plausible, and a day is read once it has ended there. If your site's time zone is well behind yours, the 7:00 email shows the last finished day, dated.
  • Morning Pulse re-reads the last 10 days on every run, so later emails and trends use Plausible's latest totals.

03 — How it works

Set it up once. Read it every morning.

  1. 01

    Create a Stats API key

In Plausible, choose your team, open Account settings > API Keys and click New API Key. Choose Stats API and name it Morning Pulse. It needs the Business plan or the 30-day free trial.

  2. 02

    Paste it, pick your site

Choose the site from the key's list. Days follow the site's time zone in Plausible. Quick setup adds your KPIs with 90 days of history.

  3. 03

    Read it at 7:00

Yesterday's site totals, each dated with the day it covers. Recent days are re-read on every run.

Morning Pulse only reads daily totals. Here is what we do with your key.

A Stats API key can read every site in its team. Morning Pulse's code allows two Plausible endpoints, the site list and the daily totals query, and nothing else.

Reads

  • Your team's site list, so you can pick a site
  • Daily visitors, visits, pageviews, views per visit, bounce rate and visit duration for that site

Never

  • Reads breakdowns by page, referrer or city, or your goals
  • Reads guest or team details
  • Changes anything in Plausible
  • Keeps your key after you disconnect

Create a Stats API key just for Morning Pulse. It is encrypted at rest, and only its last 4 characters are shown. Disconnect deletes our copy; to revoke access, delete that key in Plausible. Your other tools keep working. Plausible Cloud only. Self-hosted Plausible isn't supported yet.

04 — FAQ

Plausible questions, answered straight.

Which Plausible numbers are in the email?

Visitors, visits, pageviews, views per visit, bounce rate and visit duration. They are daily totals for the site you connect, each compared with the previous day, last week and last month. There is no breakdown by page, referrer or location, and no goals.

Plausible already sends email reports. Why this?

Plausible's email reports come weekly or monthly and cover Plausible only. Morning Pulse sends yesterday's numbers every morning at 7:00, each compared with the previous day, last week and last month, and on Starter or Pro it puts them in the same email as your other sources, such as Stripe, Search Console or the App Store. If Plausible's weekly email is all you need, keep it.

Which Plausible plan do I need?

One that includes the Stats API: the Business or Enterprise plan on Plausible Cloud, or its 30-day free trial. Starter and Growth plans can't create a Stats API key. Self-hosted Plausible isn't supported yet.

Why doesn't weekly Visitors match Plausible's weekly unique visitors?

Plausible counts each visitor once across the week. Morning Pulse shows the average day, because daily visitors can't be added up. Use Plausible when you need unique weekly or monthly visitors.

What can Morning Pulse do with my key?

A Stats API key can read every site in its team. Morning Pulse lists the team's sites so you can pick one, then only reads daily totals for that site. It never reads breakdowns by page, referrer or city, goals, or guest and team details, and it changes nothing in Plausible. Use a Stats API key created just for Morning Pulse. It is encrypted at rest. Disconnecting deletes our copy; to revoke access, delete the key in Plausible.

Which days does the email show?

Days follow your site's time zone, the one set in Plausible. Morning Pulse reads a day once it has ended there, and re-reads the last 10 days on every run, so later emails and trends use Plausible's latest totals.

How much does it cost?

Free is €0 forever: Plausible can be your one source, with 3 KPIs (quick setup picks visitors, pageviews and bounce rate) and the daily email, with no card. Starter is €4/month or €40/year: unlimited KPIs, so visit duration too, and eight sources (all but X) for 1 app. Pro is €8/month or €80/year: unlimited apps, X post analytics, anomaly alert emails (not for Plausible KPIs), weekly, monthly and quarterly emails, unlimited recipients, view-only team access and a morning brief on WhatsApp (paid Pro by card only, not the trial or Shopify billing; EU, India and Canada numbers). Your first Starter or Pro subscription starts with a 14-day trial, and checkout asks for a card. See pricing.
